The Dwelling Place Of God - "The Place of new Beginnings"

In the times of Judges - Shiloh was a small village where the Ark of the Covenant and the Tabernacle was situated. It was here that God’s people came to pray, worship and come before God to seek His face and hear His voice. Shiloh was also where God first gave His promise (Jer 7:12) for His presence with His people.

This was the prophet Samuel’s birth place (1 Sam 1:20), the home of his parents, where Hannah his mother prayed for a child, God answered her prayer and where she consecrated Samuel unto God and where God called Samuel into ministry (1 Sam 3:21). It was where Gad and Nathan the prophets of King David’s court came from, it was where they and other prophets of God lived and ministered in and from. The people came to Shiloh to hear the Word of the Lord from the prophets.

Joshua was here when he assigned the inherited land to the seven tribes of Israel. The priesthood was at the door of the tabernacle at Shiloh and it was here that the people gathered for war against the enemies of God. Here in Shiloh God dwelt with His people and they with Him, from here He spoke to them, blessed them and met with them face-to-face.

Shiloh also became a epithet of Christ (Gen 49:10), as place of peace, tranquility and prosperity, embodying God’s fullness for His people. Thus it became more than just a dusty little town, it was the very meeting place of God with His ministers and His people. A place of communication, revelation and worship.
